Biskaabiiyaang Hosted by The ACT Dinner Organizing collect

Title: Biskaabiiyaang Hosted by The ACT Dinner Organizing collect
Location: Tytler Public School
Description: In the Anishinabek language this means “We are returning”. It is the closest word that there is for “decolonization”. What are we returning to? Well, we are returning to our original roots. How are we going to do this?

The Organizing collective for this event had hoped to have presenters on the Two Row Wampum agreement. It came into question whether or not we have proper sanction from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy to talk about the Two Row agreement. We felt compelled to hold off on this presentation for this Resilience Festival event until we have explored this process more fully. We are committed to hosting a presentation on this topic in our community but want to honour all our relationships and agreements.

We are still going ahead with the event as scheduled but have changed the topic. We will have a presenter on the Unity Camp and will have other presentations on Bill C-10, the Contraband Tobacco Act and its effects on the criminalization of Haudenosaunee people.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday March 26th, 6 – 8 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm) and wish our speakers a warm welcome.
