Gary Jones from OUR Community Dollar has spent the last eight years traveling across North America studying Community currency programs and brings that knowledge to you. Join us as Gary takes us into the world of local currency and its potentially world changing impact.

Beyond Occupy is dedicated to championing the issues of income inequality and social accountability in solidarity with the Occupy movement by presenting educational social events with community partners.

Description: Last year’s Resilience 2011 Festival was a huge success, and we want this year to be even better! Like last year, we’re planning some great keynote addresses, some terrific lead-up workshops and symposia, and other events and, like last year, the culminating event will be an Earth Hour candle-light pot-luck dinner on the evening of March 31.

Description: Our next Introduction to Resilience Assessment Workshop is being held on February 16, 2012 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM at 10 Carden Street. Our first RAW was a great success and there was a sizable waiting list! If you are interested in this event, please let us know as soon as possible at engage@transitionguelph.org. Please note that a laptop is needed for this workshop. If you don’t have access to one, please let us know in your RSVP; we’ll do our best to make sure everyone has one to use.

During this workshop we will assist you in assessing your current level of resilience to economic, environmental, and energy shocks at the individual and/or household level. This activity will be facilitated by Ken Myers, Transition Guelph member and developer of the resilience assessment tool we will use in the workshop. In addition, Rodrigo Goller, Transition Guelph member, will provide attendee guidance and support during the workshop. Description: Miriam MacGillis is a Dominican Sister of Caldwell, New Jersey. She lives and works at Genesis Farm (an organic farm and Earth Literacy Centre) in Blairstown , NJ, which she co-founded in 1980 with the sponsorship of her Dominican congregation. In 2005 she received the Thomas Berry Award and in 2007 was named among the planet’s top 15 green religious leaders by Grist Magazine. She lectures extensively and has conducted workshops in the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.
